Good Fun With Good Friends

During the month of February, we joined forces with good friends, Bob and Debbie, at a rental condo in Florida.  We were on the panhandle, east of Destin and west of Panama City.  It turned out to be a great vacation spot!  We had plenty of restaurants, bars, shopping, sight-seeing and beach!  Our condo was plenty roomy for us to do group activities or watch a movie, but still room to spread out when we wanted to.  The kitchen was large and well supplied, so a lot of the meals were cooked right there.  Buddy's  was a great seafood market nearby, and we enjoyed the chance to learn more about cooking seafood that's not walleye!

Debbie and I brought along some sewing and knitting, so we had some fun with those things.  We did find 1 out of 3 quilt shops to merit the coveted status "I would go back there again"!  And there was only 1 knit shop in the area, so we decided that we really need to move there and jazz up the knitting community.  Looking for investors if you're interested!  I made a slideshow of some of our pictures....
We were there during the "off" season, and it was not crowded.  It also wasn't hot!  Some days were a little rainy, foggy, cool or windy.  Other days were just fine for going places.  It's a good time to avoid the area if you're avoiding the crowds!  We were there just prior to Mardis Gras and Spring Break.  Looking back now, we were very fortunate to leave before Covid 19 arrived.  We had only heard some brief news reports about it at that time.  When we left March 1, things really accelerated.
I want to share a milestone for Bob and I!  Tomorrow is our 45th anniversary!  Our wedding day was wonderful, not a big bash and cake and coffee in the church basement afterwards!  Not like today's mega weddings!  On that day, we had no way of knowing what the future would look like.  Like most people, we could look a few years ahead and start some goals and plans.  I envisioned us sitting in our rockers on the front porch of our home in the country!  Part of that is true, except for the rockers.  Our kids are fabulous, our friends are outstanding, our families keep us grounded and we love our home.  What could be better than that?

Thanks, Jean! You and Tom must have been married about the same length of time - what year were you married?
