We Made It To Charlotte!

We added 2 more states to our list on our last day of travel...
We made it to our destination at McDowell Nature Preserve, in the outer south west area of the Charlotte suburbs.  We had arrived just a bit later than we hoped, but luckily the office manager was still on the grounds.  We found our reserved space and started to put the trailer in place.  By this time it was dark and rainy.  The site was so far off level, and too short for us.  So we were lucky to be able to move to another spot that was so much better, we could actually get leveled out!  We had a 2 week reservation, and we did have to move sites after 10 days due to other reservations, but we just really appreciated the fact that we could work it out.
We hurried on over to the Burke house that night, home of our daughter Brita, son-in-law Ben, and 3 precious little grandsons!  It was a great reunion, we had not seen them for awhile.  Hover over the pictures for names and ages.  They are wild, funny, sweet and crazy all at the same time!  It has been so good to be able to see them on a daily basis, have lunch together, tell bedtime stories, go to the playground, etc.  All 3 have birthdays in March, so we helped with a big backyard birthday bash party for neighbors and school friends all at once!  A giant 2 story bouncy house appeared in the backyard, which was a huge hit!  It was all over and done within a couple of hours, just the clean-up left to do and a bunch of presents that have been opened over several days.
We took the 3 boys to the campground for an overnight, and that was great fun.  We left mom and dad at home for the after party!  We went to the playground, took walks around the park, built a fire, roasted hot dogs, and tried to get everyone to sleep at a decent time!  The campground is less than 20 miles away.  It has worked out well to have our own little house, allowing us to go back and forth for babysitting, errands, fun and games!
After spending 2 weeks in the campground, we just moved out to get our trailer parked temporarily at the house of friends while we spend this weekend staying with the 3 boys.  Mom and Dad are running a half marathon over in Asheville.  Actually, at the Biltmore Estate!  It's not a very warm day for it, we'll find out how well they liked it soon!  Many thanks to friends, Jay and Emily, for allowing us to park the trailer there.  They are family to the Burkes and good people!  Their home is in Belmont, in the north west section of the suburbs.  It's a great time in North Carolina!
